January Birchbox review.

Hey everyone, today I will be reviewing this years first Birchbox (I'm still not over the fact it is now 2015 and almost half way through January)! This months Birchbox has a great theme of health and fitness and they have teamed up with Women's Health magazine, which I think is great as you can't have January without health and fitness being thrown at you everywhere!

This month I received:
  • Healgel - Body
  • Beauty Protector - Protect & Detangle
  • Activbod - Feel great shower concentrate
  • REN - Glycolactic Radiance renewal mask
  • Stila - Lip glaze
  • Embrace Matcha - Green tea
  • Birchbox - Pilates band

Healgel - Body:

I have always been interested to try Healgel and was excited when I saw this in my box. The sample size is only small so I only used it on my legs, but there was enough to use it 3 times, so it's great that you only need a small amount!

The texture is a clear gel which I found not to have much of a smell too, and it was really easy to rub into the skin absorbed. After using I found that it really helped to clear up some red marks, bumps and spots from shaving which is a major plus side to this body gel!

A full sized product would set you back £39.50 so it is not cheap! If I wasn't a poor student I would probably consider repurchasing but for the time being I will stick to my usual lotions.

Beauty Protector - Protect & Detangle:

Okay I am a massive fan of this brand and love every single product that I have tried from them so I could not wait to use this! It has that wonderful sweet smell which all the other products have and I am in love with it.

This leave in conditioner basically does everything! It detangles, protects against heat and UV damage, seals the cuticles,  smoothes hair, adds shine and locks in colour, and it does all of these jobs really well!

A full sized bottle costs £14 and I have bought one as both me and my mum love it!

Activbod - Feel great shower concentrate:

This shower gel was meant to be used after a workout to help re-stimulate your body and mind which I think is a great idea. It has a strong lemon smell which really perks you up after a tiring workout. It also contains almond oil and once I got out of the shower my skin felt really soft and nourished.

A full sized product costs £5.

REN - Glycolatic radiance renewal mask:

I love a face mask and I am always up for trying a new one and this is something that I would not usually pick up, so was interested in trying it. This face mask has a really thick and sticky consistency which I think would take some getting use too, and also had a wonderful fruity smell.

After using I found that my face felt softer, looked smoother and more radiant, but the next day it also caused me a few tiny spots, so I'm not too sure my skin completely agreed with it.

A full sized product costs £30 and I don't think I would repurchase it as I really love my cupcake facemask from Lush.

Stila lip glaze - Kitten (full sized):

This lip gloss comes in nice and thin sturdy packaging, and to use you simply twist the bottom and then apply with the brush. I really love the colour of this lipgloss as it adds a wonderful shine to the lips.

I found this lip gloss to be a bit too sticky for me, but saying that I'm personally not a massive fan of lipglosses as I don't like the feeling and they need to be sticky so they don't slide off. You only need to use a small amount when applying and I fund it did last a few hours which is great for a lipgloss!

This product costs £15 and there are several colours available.

Lifestlye extras:

Pilates band - I have always wanted to try one of these and they make a great addition to the workout by adding extra resistance! If you are not sure how to use it you can can check out Birchboxs guide here: Pilates Band guide. This will cost you £7.99.

Embrace Matcha Green tea - I love green tea and all the health benefits it can provide so was excited to try this one as I only ever use the flavoured tea bagged versions. Now personally I am not a tea drinker and found the powder on it's own a bit too strong for me, but once I added some honey it was fine. I think it would also taste great with lemon added as well and also in green smoothies. A full sized product (30 servings) costs £24.99

Women's Health Mag subscription 52% off - with this months Birchbox you can get 10 issues of Women's health magazine for £18 which is over half off, so if you are a regular reader of this magazine this is a great addition to the box!

Personally I loved the theme of this Birchbox and I think as they grow this company just keeps getting stronger and stronger! You can subscribe to Birch box here:
